The Union Bargaining Committee will continue negotiations on Saturday, August 21, 2010, for all contracts with Kroger in Toledo. The Federal Mediator has called the parties together and will be present for the negotiation session on Saturday. Both parties are working diligently to reach a resolution, and a fair contract. It is our priority to preserve your health benefits and retirement security, merge the non-food and grocery contracts , and make the agreements easier to understand, and to enforce. But, there are still significant issues outstanding. Kroger members in Toledo remain on a contract extension. In other news, contracts for members at Chief Lake Stores have been extended for one year – to August 18, 2011. There are several benefits to this long-term extension. The extension will allow us to explore options for health care benefit coverage under the provisions of legislation passed this year. We will also be able to better assess the company’s viability in these markets. More time to evaluate each of these items will allow us to better negotiate a fair contract for you. As always, should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your Union Rep, or visit us online at www.ufcw75.org. |
